Since installing Windows 7 Beta everytime i log off, switch user, shut down, startup, or restart I get the black screen asking me if id like to start windows normally, or in safe mode. I always hit enter to start normally and it does what i had requested. This screen also appears before my pc goes to sleep or does any of the shut down options. Any ideas whats going on? Thanks for any help.

The issue you're facing, where a black screen appears asking whether you'd like to start Windows normally or in safe mode at various system events, seems like a boot manager problem. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue: 1. Check Boot Order: - Access your BIOS settings during startup (usually by pressing a key like F2 or DEL) and ensure that your primary hard drive is set as the first boot device. 2. Repair Boot Configuration: - Boot from your Windows 7 installation disk. - Select "Repair your computer" instead of installing. - Choose Command Prompt and run bootrec /fixmbr and bootrec /fixboot commands. 3. Check Startup Options: - Right-click on Computer and...

Check Startup Options: - Right-click on Computer and select Properties. - Click on Advanced System Settings. - Under the Advanced tab, click Settings under Startup and Recovery. - Ensure the correct operating system is selected for defaults. 4. Check for Faulty Drivers: - In Device Manager, check for any devices with warning symbols. Update or uninstall problematic drivers. 5. System File Checker: - Open Command Prompt with administrative rights. - Type sfc /scannow and let it scan and repair any corrupt system files. 6. Check Event Viewer: - Check Event Viewer for any recurring errors or warnings related to the boot process. These could provide clues to the underlying issue. 7. Create a New User Account: - Create a new user account and see if the issue persists. This can help identify whether the problem is user-specific. 8. System Restore: - If the issue started recently, use System Restore to revert your system to a point when the problem didn't exist. By following these steps, you can diagnose and possibly resolve the black screen prompt issue during system events in Windows 7.
