Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra Get Stable Android 17 With June 2026 Patch

Xiaomi has begun rolling out stable Android 17 to the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra, making the pair the first non-Pixel phones reported to receive Google’s newest Android release outside a beta program. The update arrives through Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3.3 software branch and includes the June 2026 Android security patch.
Android Authority and Notebookcheck report that the rollout is available for global and European firmware variants of the two flagships. Xiaomi 15T Pro owners are also in line for the Android 17-based build, but that release remains limited to the company’s Mi Pilot testing program rather than the general public.

This is a full platform update rather than a routine monthly patch. Download sizes reportedly range from roughly 7.5GB on the standard Xiaomi 17 to about 9.5GB or 10GB on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, depending on regional package.
Despite the Android version jump, Xiaomi’s published changelog is sparse. It calls out general stability improvements, bug fixes and the June security update, with little detail on new user-facing functionality. Owners may need to check the Android version in the About Phone screen to confirm that the device has moved to Android 17.
That subdued presentation reflects Xiaomi’s software model: most interface and feature work is delivered through HyperOS, not necessarily alongside a new Android platform version. PhoneWorld reports that several Android 17 features highlighted by Google are absent from this initial Xiaomi release, including app bubbles, screen-recording reactions and separate Gemini volume controls.

What users should do

The practical value is primarily security and platform currency, rather than a transformed interface. Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra users should:
  • Back up important data and reserve at least 10GB of free storage before installing.
  • Prefer Wi-Fi and a charged battery, given the size of the package.
  • Confirm the installed build and Android version after the reboot.
  • Avoid manually sideloading regional firmware packages, particularly when moving between global and European variants.
For organizations managing Xiaomi handsets, the update is worth validating against device-management, VPN, authentication and line-of-business apps before encouraging broad deployment. The unusually large package also makes phased rollout sensible on constrained networks.
Xiaomi 15T Pro owners outside Mi Pilot will need to wait for the public rollout.
