I am running Windows 8. I know this forum is for Windows 7, but the Windows 8 forum is under developed and doesn't really have any members yet.

I am selling my laptop, so I'm installing Windows 7 since I have Windows 8 now. I was going to install it off a flash drive. Every time I go to try to transfer the Windows 7 Starter files onto the flash drive, I can't transfer 1 file. It says I need to permission to move it.

I am administrator, and I have tried take ownership. It still will not work, and it's driving me nuts...

Hi

You can also try and log in as administrator and move them from there.

How to Enable the Administrator Account

Open the command prompt with elevated privileges by clicking the Start orb, All Programs, Accessories, right-click Command Prompt and then select Run as administrator.

Type or cut and paste…

net user administrator /active:yes

and then press Enter.

Log out and log back in as Administrator.

When you are done undue the process by doing the same thing and pasting in

net user administrator /active:no

Mike

It may also work if you just copy them instead of transferring them since it doesn't remove them from their present position.
Are you trying to take ownership from within Windows 7? This may be necessary, as the ownership may be locked there.
