Hi Robby,
did you install windows 8 or was already on the machine when you bought it? If you installed windows 8 yourself then you might be lacking drivers which may mean loss of functionality. If you can post the exact make and model I'll point you in the right direction as it's the lappies manufacturer that provides the drivers.
