Windows 8 Incredibly slow after update

Word threw me an error saying 'something went wrong' and suggested I run an update. After doing that last night (Tues May 27) my computer runs like crap. Takes longer to boot than usual, and signimg in takes a good 10 min. I tried to open a browser to search for solutions. That took 15 min to open. Tried task manager and saw I was at 2% resource usage. I want to be able to use my computer and NEED to be able to use word for existing documents. Any help would be greatly appreciated
