It's giving that message and then it's diagnosing the problem but then goes to a black Screen... I need help a lot of my work is on there.

is there any other part to the error message like a number? Also do you know what preceded the start of the issue? Did you install something, remove something or was a windows update?
Do you have an install disk or know someone you could borrow from? If so you could try booting off the install disk and then instead of re-installing running a repair.
