There are icons in the notification area that I never need to see: Numbers Lock, Scroll Lock, Caps Lock. I know that I can hide them. I have set them to "hide" in "Customize Notification Icons". But what I would like to do is get rid of the icons permanently. Is this possible?

I take it you have an HP PC. If so then yes you can. You have to remove these items form the add/remove area in the control panel. It's been a little over a year since I removed mine. Just scroll through the add/remove programs and there some where down towards bottom, 3/4's the way down. All three are together.

Also for future reference list your system specs. it will help us isolate problems more efficiently.
