hy does MS update push 32 bit updates to my 64 bit machine?

Short answer, yes. You most likely have both 32 Bit apps and 64 Bit apps from MS on your PC. For example most of us using Office have the 32 Bit version installed, hence we will receive the 32 Bit updates.

As an Example W7 comes with both 32 and 64 bit versions of IE 9. One is found in program files (86) -this is where most 32 bit programs are installed- the other is is found in Program files
