Hi,

I`ve spent a week on google trying to find a solution to my problem and its starting to drive me nuts. I got my old pc out of the cupboard and when I first tried to use it all went well and when I tried to update the OS it just hung on the checking for updates screen. I`ve tried numorus fixes but none seem to work i`ve even tried reloading to OS and it downloads the wua 7.6.7600.320 and on the restart it makes changes to the registry and then just hangs again any ideas???

I believe you now need IE11 to be installed. Have you tried running KB947821https://Link Removed the Windows Preparedness Tool? I used that to fix a couple Windows 7 machines here that wouldn't update. It may take 4 or more hours to complete.
