So far it is 3 users with the same issue.

Users starts laptop and logs into WIN7 with no problems. User locks laptop with Window Key + L. User comes back to login and password failed? Had user stop on by to confirm it is not a capslock / numlock / etc.. error. User has to restart to get back to the desktop.

any ideas

EDIT: Oh, users have to lock their laptops when they step away.

It's the function ability (fn- alternate abilities of pressing keys) of the keyboard kicking in. Try hitting the combination on the keyboard to toggle (disable) the functions. Then type correct password and hit enter.

They aren't by chance trying to "unlock" an account they're not logged into?

Lets say LoMoJo is logged in with pw "itsmyday" ...
Now along comes HiBoFlo who's password is "yesitsreallyme"...

Obviously her password won't work unless she uses the "Change User" feature of the locked screen.

I could be wrong... but this sounds like the most likely scenario...
