I have a lenovo laptop with windows 8.1. The jack used to work perfectly on my laptop but it doesn't anymore. Windows will still pop up the jack plugged in message but it just won't play any sound on my headphones. The speaker works just fine, and I have searched through all over the Interwebs and no luck. Anyone has any ideas please help, thanks!

Solution
In Control Panel>>> Sound>>> Playback tab, check that the default setting is pointing to the headphones/speakers.
(while the headphone is plugged in). When you unplug the headphone, it should automatically find the available playback output.

Sometimes it happens to me too but I just unplug and plug the jack back in until the system detects or responds to it. You can try that too.
