..is working fine (manual install) but XP asking for activation even it is supposed to be pre-activated?

XP- mode is supposed to be pre-activated but I guess only for 7Pro or better. If you install on 7Home you have to supply a key!?

okay, so how you get a genuine key for XP when it is no longer sold?

Do you have a licensed copy of XP - if so try VMWare VMware Virtualization Software for Desktops, Servers & Virtual Machines for a Private Cloud it is actually better than MS VPC and caters for multi monitors etc...

I was saying earlier I do not have any XP disk or key - if I had the problem would be fixed already!
I have exactly 1 older software requiring the VM to work properly coz it's slow as a turtle in 7HP.
I do not need VMware as it is already up and running in the MS VM but it will expire in 30 days without activation.
