The original poster, cmach1, is concerned about their Linksys router creating an unwanted extra device on their network list, which appears as a computer but is actually the router itself. They are seeking a way to prevent this device from showing up. Neemobeer suggests logging into the router and disabling any unnecessary services to address the issue.

An image from 'Router listed among network computers. Can it be removed?'. Windows Network folder showing connected computers, media devices, and network infrastructure.

As this image shows, my Linksys router has created an extra "computer" on my network that carries my network's name. Ideally, the list should only show the three computers I have on the network. I know the extra computer is my router, but it serves no purpose being there. Does anyone know how to prevent it from showing up on my network computer list?

Log into the router and disable any extra services that are enabled.
