This AV seems pretty good, with one exception...it seems as though it never stops scanning, which causes other programs to respond slowly. I set it to check updates only once a day, early in the morning, hoping that it would only scan with a new update, but that isn't the case.

I've gone through the settings, trying to find a way to control scanning intervals, but have failed to find anything. Does anyone have an idea of a fix?

Seems I'm late with the answer but maybe this information may be helpful for other people.
Check if you have disabled searching of rootkits. Also I have kis and install all updates by hand.
To me, it's unnecessary to update the base of viruses everyday as the risk, to catch a real virus, is low if
you surf the same sites day by day in the main.
