📎 AI Summary:
In this thread, Peterr seeks help with ongoing issues running Windows System Restore after disabling malware protection software, suspecting interference. Neemobeer clarifies that ransomware can delete restore points, but Peterr later explains the problem was due to MBAM needing to be disabled in Safe Mode for System Restore to work properly. The overall tone is one of troubleshooting and learning from experience.

When I tied to run this with 1803 t said the probable cause was an a/v interfering.
I only have MBAM so I disabled it by right clicking and selecting "quit".
When I ran system restore again the same thing happened.
Can Windows be working against itself so I should disable ransomware etc.?
I have Macrium but I would think system restore would work with Windows 2803. I did read that MBAM interferes with SR but I see no option than what I did other than uninstall.

Solution
No, as the title of the thread implies the issue is my not being able to run system restore.
However, I was the problem because to avoid interference by MBAM it needs to be run in safe mode.
I am all set now and learned something today.
Actually, I should have read Google more thoroughly before posting but perhaps another block head like me will learn too.

Are you saying you're dealing with ransomware? Ransomware will often delete VSS backups and restore points.
