you will need VISTA install disc and a windows 7 install disk

first upgrade XP to vista
then upgrade XP to windows 7

Hello and welcome to the forums. I suspect that your third statement actually was intended to read
then upgrade Vista to Windows 7
Actually Mike the site owner and senior administrator here at Windows7Forums.com created a blog with video regarding this topic almost a year and a half ago on February 12th 2010. It's located here if you or anyone else is interested in this topic.
