Windows 7 Icons dont stay hidden after reboot?

I hide my desktop icons, but when I reboot they re appear, how do I keep them hidden from view without -rm 'ing them?

strange, I assume you are administrator on this pc?
might go to this key in registry and right click on it to see if you have full permissions
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
"HideIcons"=dword:00000001
