Just noticed that since upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1, I have 2 recovery partitions. Does Windows 10 automatically create a new recovery partition? If I create a Recovery USB Drive, will it be Windows 10 or Windows 8.1? I can't do anything with either of these partitions via Disk...
My NTFS non-system partition is now almost well defragmented. However this applies only to small and medium sized files.
There are still approx 40 big files (> 1 GB) which cannot be defragmented because there is no free single (!) space slot where they fit in.
So I need a way to shift all...
Hi everyone,
I know for Windows, after XP, when you do an install, Windows creates two separate partitions. One being the System Parition (Housing all of the boot files, boot sector and it's code, and all sorts of decryption coding and the like)
and it also creates the Boot Partition (housing...

I recently recovered my C: drive to a new drive (via Symantec SSR Anyware to a new computer) and kept the same disk id on the new drive. Now I want to use the old C: drive on my new system (as an additional data disk) but of course windows won't mount it because...

Every time I start Winduws 7 I have some external hard drives that pop-up to show their contents.
How do I get Windows to automatically approve these external hard drive, so I do not have to close those pop-up down every time ?
I have just created an image backup for my windows8.1 computer, but when I try to open the image file I am told the Disk Image is not initialized, contains partitions that are not recognized or contains volumes that have not been assigned drive letters and I should use Disk Management snap-in to...

I guess I'll start with what gave birth to this problem: I was curious about OpenSUSE so I thought I'd try it out, I dual booted Windows with OpenSUSE and everything was fine, I gave it a go, exactly what I wanted to do, and then I was done with it. In the process of installing OpenSUSE however...

Hi
I've got my Windows TP 10041 install disk made.
I've tested it and it boots and starts the install process.
I want to install to a new partition with out removing my current install from the drive it's on.
It's on a different physical hard drive.
Any suggestions, I don't want to get into a...
This is perhaps an advanced question, I'm not really sure where it belongs but I'll ask it here I guess.
I keep hard drive clones (not quite the same as copy/paste) which are made using macrium reflect - I do this so that when an OS drive eventually fails, I can just slot in this clone and be...
Hello
My external disk fell on the ground. And since, it did not function. It did a bip when I plug or unplug it. The light indicator does not appear. The disk is visible when I go in computer management --> "computer-manage-device manager-disk drive" but it does not appear on "disk management"...
backed up my files on a 250g HDD
reinstalled win7 on 500g HDD
During install, I ignored the 250 and partitioned the 500g HDD like I have done thousands of times before.
Then choise one of the partitions on the 500G HDD to install wnin7.
Install complete and win 7 is on the proper partition...

Lately, my computer had been running slower than usual and ads from various websites/companies had been popping up while I was using my browser. I determined this was caused by malware and set to work deleting the files manually (deleting all extra add-ons and temp files, unhiding my files and...

My Windows 8.1 laptop has 4 recovery partitions. Which I think are way too many. I want to delete them and merge the space with other drives. What are they for and why do i need 4? Can I delete them all? Or perhaps keep just one if it is necessary?
I have these 4 recovery partitions and I have no idea what they are for. Can I get rid of them if they are not necessary? And how do I do it, if it is safe to delete them?
