I'm helping my elderly dad restore a Macrium Reflect image from about 4 years ago to a brand new Dell Laptop. I just downloaded the Macrium software to the laptop and started a Restore over whatever was on the laptop. The MR image is located on a separate USB hard drive. Seemed to install OK...

My win10 installation seems to have died this morning. I can't rescue it, repair it, go to a restore point or put an image on - nothing works.
So I tried to install a new Win10 but got a message that it couldn't be installed because that chosen disk and partition (the very one...
I made a complete system image backup on an external hard disk about a month ago, now I want to update the image. Does creating system image again on that same external hard disk create everything from scratch or update the existing backup?
If so, how can I update my existing backup?
I have activated the History backup facility in Settings, but all get is a folder FileHistory and various sub-folders, all empty. It is a facility I would like to use to cover new files etc. made since my last regular image backup - is there any other way of setting it up properly. If I cannot...

Having tried Win10 on my Lenovo T61, I found too many problems with hardware and restored Win7 from an image backup. Since then, my Windows update consistently tells me to upgrade to 10 and, when I try to search for new Win7 updates, it just searches for hours with no results or reports that...

So I've been looking everywhere for this and in the end I still can't find rock-solid info.
So I've just installed Windows 10 Pro in UEFI mode with Secure Boot enable and now I've got 4 partitions:
Normally, I would just "ghost" my C partition and be done with it with Legacy boot but now with...

Hi
I've always put some of my software on other drives than the one that Windows is on.
But when I set up Windows 10 I decided to keep the install small and not put any of my software in the Program Files of Program Files (x86) folders.
I installed all my software in a folder on another...
I have been using Windows Backup and Restore in Windows 7 for over three years. I create an image of C: each night and also do a file backup of D: each night. This process is automated and has worked flawlessly for me. I do not want to change to another backup system. Yesterday, when I checked...
Hello
I received a postcard from a credit card company with an offer for a 64 GB flash drive whose brand is a well known pc retail store. It is $7.49 if the credit card advertised is used.
I don't think I can mention the store but my question is, would you consider this to be a safe drive...
Everything went smoothly when I updated my desktop computer to Win 8.1. However, I now have a persistent message in the Action Center (see attached). It tells me to update my backup settings, but if I click the "Set up backup" button, nothing happens. I understand that the Image Backup tool...

Hi
While I'm somewhat undecided about how I'm going to update to Windows 8.1, I started wondering about how the update process works.
The last thing I do before I update will be to make an image of my C:\ drive, so I can experiment a little.
If I just run the update from the Windows update...

I have a dual boot PC with two separate HD's, one with Win7 on C: drive and the other with Win8 on the D: drive.
When I boot to Win7 and use the Windows Backup program to make an image of the C: drive, it automatically includes the D: drive.
I only want to backup Win7, how do I do that...
Assume I created a bootable USB stick with some additional software on it.
Now I want to backup the whole stuff into an archive file on my hard disc.
If I would have an CD/DVD I could create a well known ISO file for it which contains everything.
How do I do this for an USB stick?
If I just...
