I was unable to add files to one specific folder on a Blu-ray disc. Later, there was a zero-byte file dated 1974-07-25 that would result in error 0x80070570 when trying to rename it in Windows Explorer. Trying to open it with Notepad or through the "type" command inside CMD results in an error...

After inserting a Blu-ray data disc (BD-R), an unknown background process accesses the disc even when I am doing nothing. It even happens when deactivating the real-time protection feature of Windows Defender.
Existing tools such as the task manager and the third-party tool "Process Hacker"...
This post was originally going to be a question, but upon further examination, I have figured out a likely cause. The error 0x80071AC3 which could occur while copying files to a BD-R (Blu-ray disc recordable) is likely caused by a decade-old bug in the UDF 2.60 live file system driver of...
Hello.
My DVD+RW with UDF is suddenly write-protected despite I have never finalized it.
I just used it normally, and on the next day, it was suddenly write-protected.
I extracted a Windows_8 ISO and made some changes to ei.cfg. I recomposed the sources back to a bootable UDF ISO but this ISO fails to boot in a VM. I get a blank screen during boot.
Interestingly if I extract the same ISO and recompose it back again without doing any modifications then the ISO...
I have a problem with WinExplorer under 64bit Win 7:
I inserted a BlueRay or DVD media and want to see the content (approx 12 big zip files) in Windows Explorer.
But WinExp does not show them (on the right side in details list).
If I click on the drive in WinExplorer nothing happens.
Only the...
Occasionally I do some data file backups onto DVD and BlueRay medias.
My burning program offers some media file systems (even in combination):
ISO 9960 - Joliet - UDF
Which one should I use?
Is it correct that understanding the file system is a matter of the appropriate driver of the...
In many burning software programs users can chooses which file system they want to use on their DVD/BlueRay media disc.
Is UDF (v1.02) ALWAYS bettern than ISO 9660 resp. Jolliet format?
If not: What could be a disadvantage of UDF?
I want to burn big (archive) files.
No special audio or...
Before windows incorporated burning into itself, I use to use 3rd party software to burn multisession ISOs (not UDF, which was always hit and miss). Most of the time, multisession worked, even between computers. In the cases where it didn't, I attributed it to incompatibility between all sorts...

I am running Windows 7 and recently came across a DVD-RW that I had burned several old pictures to a few years back. It is from the Nexxtech brand.
Once I put it in the computer, the DVD drive began making all kinds of racket and, after about fifteen minutes, claimed to be unable to read the...

After I download the ISO from MS I only get a file which says:
This disc contains a "UDF" file system and requires an operating system
that supports the ISO-13346 "UDF" file system specification.
What am I supposed to do now?
Weird deal, I downloaded the first vista version, try to burn as an ISO image thru nero, said had to use UDF because of large file size. Anyhoo I put the disc in and it did nothing, tried to reboot with disc in, wouldn't start that way either, not sure what happened but somehow after about the...
