So, I was tinkering around w/my Dell Latitude E6440 laptop some weeks ago, let's say a month now and I mistakenly changed my permissions.
Now almost no programs work, not even Windows Explorer.
See the attachments for the messages I get...

Starting this morning, my Windows 7 is opening most applications in Vim (Vim is my editor of choice).
The following is an itemized list of this bizarre behavior.
From Start menu, most applications display the Vim icon (screen shot below).

Recently I decided to put up a website, using Smugmug. After creating it and uploading a few of my photos, I noticed significant desaturation of color, not drastic but significant. The vibrant colors of a golden sunset on red rocks is noticeably desaturated, making it appear somewhat drab...
I am having some issues with my color management. Different programs display the color considerably different. In Photoshop Lightroom and in the Windows Photo Viewer, the image shows up with a vibrant pink. Then when I made it my background image, the picture shows up as a dull pink. I even...
i have a number of GIF images on my computer. for some reason they open in Internet Explorer rather than Windows Photo Viewer like other image extensions do. Can anyone tell me how to view GIFs in Windows Photo Viewer? Cause I can't seem to find it when i go to Open With.
Thanks in advance.
Hi all. I was recently having some bad video driver issues (getting frequent BSODs after updating to the latest drivers for my 560 Ti), so I did a system restore. After the restore, I'm not having any problems with that, but a new one has popped up: opening any photo or video file in Windows...
Hi
Until recently my computer would open image files with Adobe Photoshop and Preview them using Windows Photo Viewer.
This is the way it has worked in Windows 7 as long as I have been using it.
This worked great because Photo Viewer open almost instantly and Photoshop takes forever!

One of the most weird bug I've ever seen. Most of the times (not all the times) when I maximize the "Windows Photo Viewer" window the child window at the bottom (named "Navigation Pane") where lies the control buttons doesn't repaint itself. But the pinnacle of weirdness is, while I monitor ANY...
Here's a weird one. When I open photos in Windows Photo Viewer, they look correct. When I open them in any other application, or use one as a desktop background, there's a blueish tint that, while it doesn't look ridiculous, isn't what the picture should look like.
Anyone know how to...
Good night to all,
I recently began experiencing the "COM Surrogate" error while opening up pretty much all pictures with Microsoft "Windows Photo Viewer"
I'm attaching a screenshot.
I found millions of suggestions online (codecs, Adobe CS3, CS4) but none seem to be working (and most wont...
In XP, when I double-clicked on a file (.jpg, .wmv, etc.), it would open the applicable program on top of the explorer window that given file was in.
Now, in Win7 (x64), when I double-click one of those files, the app. (Windows Photo Viewer, WMP, etc.) is opening behind the explorer window.
Is...

I have an issue with Windows 7 changing the color/contrast/brightness of images set as a background. These images have the correct color/brightness when viewed by any other means (Windows Image Viewer, GIMP, FF, IE8), however, when they are set as a background it appears the brightness of the...
