Hello, is there any way to virtualize win 7 and later, or linux on win xp profesional? Unfortunately, most virtualization devices no longer support win xp. It doesn't have to be a powerful solution, especially if the OS can somehow get a few fps up and running.

With any luck, this guy will allow me to show the filename of photos that show up in the screen-saver slide show, if I copy him into Win10 c>windows>system32.
The various articles I've found on the net give me a link that spits up. Can anybody help?
I have an old HP Photosmart S20 scanner that will only work on Win XP. I've wiped an old HDD and installed Win XP Pro and am now trying to install SP3 from a disc. No luck! There are no setup or install programs on the SP3 disc. How do I get this to install?
my win xp dies and am planning to install win 7. I will install it on my c disk and erase the dead xp but leave the existing d disk created by win xp as it is. My concern is whether win 7 can read disk d just like win xp does. This is quite important as d disk is my data disk and I cannot afford...
Hi.
I use Sunbelt Personal Personal Firewall on a WinXP machine. A very nice feature is that it reports also inbound and outbound traffic (connection attempts).
I installed Windows 7 now on new hardware and would like to use the internal Windows 7 build-in firewall (since quite efficient), but...
I have a small MS network set up with 3 WinXP SP3 systems connecting to a Win7 system. I set this up back in September and things have been working fine until yesterday afternoon. One of the XP systems lost sight of the shared folders on the Win7 system for some unknown reason. The computer...

I have this printer since 1995, and it still works well! (I had, though, to take it apart and clean it a few times.) It runs with WinXP and Linux, but I have not yet been able to install any of the drivers I could find in Win7.
Of course, I use a parallel port adapter that works well with XP...
We have a small netwrok with one workgroup. We recently added a new machine running wn7Pro 64-bit. We had to fiddle for days with it just to make winXPpro and win2kPro workstations and their drives visible to it. That should be out-of-the-box automatic functionality, but it isn't because Win7Pro...

Hey,
I just mooved from WinXP to Win7 with my software.
My software needs to have real time response to I/O so it makes busy-wait in one thread (wich has affinity to run on one CPU).
The result is 100% CPU on one of the cores and 0 CPU for others, in WinXP it worked just fine.
In win7 the...
How do you establish an automatic VPN connection in Windows 7?
I can establish the VPN connection but I have to click on it and "Connect" every time.
I'm trying to establish an always on connection, like you could do with WinXP.
Thanks.
Hi all,
I am trying to find the audio effects settings in Win7 but haven't been able to do so.
In WinXP, the audio effects settings is under the following:

Therefore I would like...

My OS is 32bit Win7 Pro.
In Windows Explorer, when you right click a file, a drop down menu opens showing options to choose.
I'd like to add another option on that menu.
How do you do that?
(It was easy in WinXP.)
Please let me know if this request is more appropriate in another forum.
Thanks.
In former WInXP there was a menu dialog with all services and how they should start (manually/automatic/disabled).
Where is this dialog in Win7
I did not found it in Start menu.
Is there an alternative way to configure them?
Peter
Hi,
I have an application running, where the clients contact a licensing server via UDP port 3047.
The Clients run on Win2000, WinXP Prof. Everything works.
Installed a Client on a Win7 box, tried to contact licensing server, no success.
With tcpdump on the Serverside I see about 50 UPD...

In Win XP, I could add a folder, and move shortcuts around to my liking. Can I do that in Win 7? For example, when I installed Office, it did not offer the choice of where to put the shortcuts. I'd like to create a folder called MS Office, and move all the Office shortcuts into it.
Thanks,
Mikey
I have a private network that has several computers running a different operating system.
