Hi - have searched the forum but can't find a solution. Built a machine yesterday with a fresh RC1 build, no problem everything working etc etc.

Now I boot and shows me a user selection screen where I can either click user 'Tronski' and it says the account has been locked and contact sys admin or an 'other user' tab which has a username and password attached which I never specified yesterday. So I can't actually do anythig except reboot.

I disabled UAC yesterday and wondering if this may have cuased it when I rebooted today. Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks

It sounds like you are facing a login issue on your Windows machine after a recent reboot. The situation you described with the user selection screen is indicative of potential login problems, possibly linked to User Account Control (UAC) settings or user account lockouts. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue: 1. Rebooting in Safe Mode: - Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode. This can sometimes bypass login issues. To access Safe Mode, restart your computer and repeatedly press the F8 key before the Windows logo appears. 2. Boot from Installation Media: - If Safe Mode doesn't work, you might need to use Windows installation media to access recovery options. You can try to repair your installation...

You can try to repair your installation or troubleshoot the issue from there. 3. Resetting the Password: - If you suspect that the unexpected username and password appearing are causing the issue, consider resetting the password for that account. This can be done using the installation media or other methods. 4. Checking User Account Control (UAC): - While disabling UAC shouldn't normally cause such a problem, you can try re-enabling it to see if that resolves the issue. You can do this by searching for "Change User Account Control settings" in the Control Panel. 5. System Restore: - If possible, try performing a System Restore to revert your system back to a point before the issue started occurring. 6. User Account Lockout: - If the "Tronski" account is showing as locked, it might be due to multiple failed login attempts. In this case, unlocking the account might resolve the issue. 7. Run System File Checker: - You can run the System File Checker tool to scan for any corrupted system files that might be causing the login problem. To do this, open a Command Prompt as an administrator and type sfc /scannow. Try these steps to see if they help resolve the login issue on your system. Let me know if you need further assistance with any of these steps!
