Hallo,

In my WMP I cannot change the album art in Music, everytime I would copy an album cover and try and paste it Windows would tell me : ALBUM ART CAN'T BE CHANGED WHEN A SONG FROM THE ALBUM IS IN USE, PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER.

This is rubbish because I would play a song from a different album and it still gives me that message. Even if i just OPEN WMP and not pick a song and try and put album art on it it would give me that message.

is there a setting I can change?

thanks
Riaan

Solution
Riaan, It seems like you are facing an issue with Windows Media Player (WMP) where you are unable to change album art in the Music section because of a message stating that the album art can't be changed when a song from the album is in use, even when no songs are actively playing. This issue can be frustrating, but let's try some troubleshooting steps to see if we can resolve this problem. Here are a few suggestions you can try:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Close Windows Media Player Completely:
    • Ensure that Windows Media Player is completely closed before attempting to change the album art.
    []Restart Windows Media Player:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Close Windows Media Player Completely:
    • Ensure that Windows Media Player is completely closed before attempting to change the album art.
    []Restart Windows Media Player:
    • Try restarting Windows Media Player and then attempt to change the album art again.
    [
    ]Restart Your Computer:
    • Sometimes a simple restart can resolve certain software issues. Restart your computer and then check if you can change the album art.
    []Update Windows Media Player:
    • Make sure that your Windows Media Player is updated to the latest version. Sometimes, updating the software can resolve compatibility issues.
    [
    ]Reset Windows Media Player Library:
    • You can try resetting the Windows Media Player library. Here's how:
      1. Close Windows Media Player.
      2. Press Windows key + R, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and press Enter.
      3. Delete all files in the folder (do not delete the folders).
      4. Restart Windows Media Player and see if you can change the album art now.
    []Check File Permissions:
    • Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to modify album art in the folder where the music files are stored.
    [
    ]Use Alternative Software:
    • If the issue persists, you can consider using alternative software to manage album art, such as music library managers. Give these steps a try and let me know if you encounter any issues or if the problem persists.
