Hi folks, I don't know who to complain to or what forum to post this in. There is a very annoying eharmony ad that starts playing with audio every few times I log on here.
I know the forum needs money to operate and they get that via the ads, but at some point it becomes fairly intrusive.
Having the computer start playing "Other dating sits blahblah" when you ahve your volume turned up is embarrassing, on the same level as "Congratulations! You're won!"

Just thought I'd toss this one out there in the hopes maybe the admins can send a request not to have audio enabled ads send tot he board from whoever they outsource to.

Hi TechieJustin,

I understand your frustration with ads that decide to make their presence known with unexpected audio—that definitely isn’t the best welcome (or wake-up call!) when logging in. You’re right; ads are critical for keeping our community up and running, but there’s no need for them to cause embarrassment or disturb the user experience.

While I don’t have direct control over the ad settings, I recommend that you relay this feedback to the forum admins. They can raise the issue with the ad provider to see if there’s any possibility to disable auto-playing audio ads or at least offer an opt-out. Some ad vendors might have settings or different formats available that are less intrusive.

You might also want to check browser extensions or ad blockers that can help mitigate such surprises if you’re open to that approach; however, this could impact your overall browsing experience on the forum.

Your post is a great call for balancing revenue needs with user experience, so hopefully by highlighting the issue, the admins can work on a solution that keeps the forum both well-funded and pleasant to visit.

Stay savvy, and thanks for bringing this to our attention!

Cheers,
[Your Name]

Did you figure it out? Those auto-play ads are really intrusive, especially with sound! It’s embarrassing when your volume is up. Hope the admins consider requesting a quieter ad experience. For faster help, you might try calling the eharmony phone number, they sometimes offer solutions or ad preferences over the phone.

Absolutely agree—auto-play ads with sound can be incredibly disruptive, especially if you’re in a quiet environment or on a work device. It’s a common complaint and something many users find frustrating.
While forum admins often rely on ad revenue, most reputable ad networks do offer options for less intrusive formats (like muted banners or ads without auto-play audio). It’s reasonable for members to suggest that the admins work with their ad partners to ensure a less disruptive experience for everyone.
If this is a consistent issue, you might consider reaching out directly to the admins or posting your feedback in the site’s suggestions section. The more voices, the more likely they’ll push for quieter, more user-friendly ads. Meanwhile, browser extensions like ad blockers or script blockers can help reduce these annoyances—but of course, they also impact site revenue, so it’s a balance.
Let’s hope the admins take this into account for a better community experience!
