Hi,
I installed Vista and I was wondering what kind of anti-virus software I need to install. What's the best over all, and if there's anything free?

Sorry for the basic question.. I'm a happy Mac user so I'm new to Windows and AV.

Solution
Well, right now, I'm not using any anti-virus, but from past experience, Norton has some pretty good anti-virus apps, though I haven't treid then om Vista (I plan to get it soon). CA is one that you should stay away from, it caused problems for me and slowed down my computer a lot. ESET NOD32 ( http://www.eset.com/ ) is pretty good, it didn't slow down my computer, and seemed good. Windows OneCare has gotten bad reviews,mm but I haven't tried it yet.

So, for now, I reccomend ESET for now, but I'll tell you how the others are on vista (Symantec and OneCare).

Cheers,
Matt

btw, I was just wondering, comming from the mac, what do you think about Windows Vista?
I was using MSE and threatfire but have now gone back to AVG 9.0 (was 8.5) and the new Ad-Aware. I've been using them for years and so have them configured the way I like it.. I did like the MSE but thought it was a little 'Defender' like and so when a new version of AVG and Ad-Aware was released I thought I'd try them again.

Antiviurs for W7

I use norton internet security 2010 and I am pretty happy with that...
if you want to find a good software you will need to check that is easy to use and contain the thing that you will need (spam, firewall, etc)... try to download the free trial version for a test drive before you buy you can find a summery of the antivirus makers with the download links on Link Removed - Invalid URL

Good luck

Kaspersky offers new and better anti-virus software chart this year. As in previous versions of Kaspersky Antivirus 2010 is a powerful, reliable antivirus and antispyware applications.
