Windows 7 Are all these popup scams typical on this website, or do they indicate that I have a problem?

1) I posted an inquiry to this forum about 2 hours ago and note that my thread is the only one that nobody has responded to, so my first question as a new user is, "How long should I wait before exploring other options to try to solve a problem?" I expected that a forum moderator would have at least said something like, "Get lost buddy; this is the wrong forum." by now. But I have heard nothing. My system is essentially down, and I cannot get started without some assistance.

2) Are all of these hover popup scams that I see on this website typical? I do not want to meet Asian women, and I do not want a free credit rating check or some viagra. Nor do I believe that I will win a prize if I 'Click Here'. You mention that you rely on advertising, which I respect, but it does not seem like you are the least discriminating in whom you allow to advertise on this site. I'm suspecting that I have some special problems with my system in this regard, but I don't know. Can someone please assure me that this is typical fare on this site. IN either case, is your link to W7F or to PCHelpBoost, legitimate? I tried both of those links, but they failed because they couldn't connect to Internet Explorer, which baffles me because it appears that I can connect to Internet Explorer if I want to. (I do not want to.) I am communicating with you with Chrome right now.

Clarification would be much appreciated. I just don't know if this is a legitimate website at this point.

Regards,

JerryI

1) The BSOD forum is only read by a few people. If you haven't received a reply within 48 hours, then I'd start to get concerned. I check all unread posts once a day - but on occasion I will miss a day or two due to work/family issues.

As I recall, I just responded to your other post and suggested that you get expert malware removal assistance. Please look at that post for details (I'm running late for work and want to finish this before I leave).

Once the malware issue is fixed - if you're still having problems post back in the other topic. I get notification (by email) of responses - so I'll know when you come back.

2) The symptoms that you are experiencing are typical of a malware infection. We can't fix other problems until the malware is removed. (this also applies to hardware problems - but we've haven't seen any signs of that yet).

Let the malware is removed most systems will function normally. There's a small fraction that have too much damage and need to be wiped. In the event that that happens, you'll have to backup your stuff (we can help with that - but you'll need a device to store your backup on - like an external USB drive, or a flash drive). But let's not get ahead of ourselves. See what the malware removal experts have to say.

Good luck!
