Beats me but, here is my problem with them. After a while of running if I move the mouse to start the machine from sleep, it simply jams up and I have to reboot. So for now it's back to the ATI card which actually works very nicely albeit slower than the Nvidia card by a wide margin. What I have not figured out is what in the Nvidia drivers is causing the lockup?

It's just the 8500GT and yeah only after it was introduced to new drivers about 10 days ago. Thats why I went back to the ATI HD2400 as it works fine though slower than the Nvidia. And my guess now is it's something to do with the HP part of the computer, though I could be wrong? But, I can not get it to stop freezing up and that I sure hate a lot. Glad they are working for you.
What type of NVIDIA card do you have? (obvious)

Is this only after you introduced new drivers? I have a GeForce 7950 and have found the drivers have improved the performance of the card.
