POLITICS Are We Ready for Aliens?

"Why can't we all just get along", a phrase that that was hypocritical with first spoken by Rodney King, and has seen more than it's share of use (or abuse) since.

My take on religion is simple. There are many religions. Only one can be apparently right but as non of them have proof you're all wrong by default. More wars are caused by religion than any other reason. Which also leads me to think religion and believing in fantastical idea's is also bad.

If someone speaks to god they're classed as devout, instead of being mentally ill and deluded. So I'm going to upset many a person and point out, religion is a disease and should be treated as such.
There is some irony in your statement, because while you say that "There are many religions. Only one can be apparently right", which I would tend to agree with, you have already made it abundantly clear that you don't believe in any of them. If I felt as you do, I would spend more time in trying to determine what that one true religion is? To know is far, far better than wondering, or in failing to believe the truth when you hear it. Keep in mind that I use the word "religion" only as a convenient term in this case.

EDIT: As far as your statement regarding how religion has caused more wars than any other reason, that is only partially true, because in the wider sense of the word, all beliefs systems, including your's is a religion. Therefore it is true that the differences in our beliefs are at the root of the cause for all conflicts, on all scales, including personal ones.

The question of hostility as a basic of both humans and imaginary aliens is rather intriguing. We want to kill our neighboring people, we suppose they want to kill us, everyone wants to kill everyone, and if we manage to reach the climax - we all have killed everyone. And everyone will be happy?

Now, that was the Big Bang? Culmination of Evolution? Be it Earthly, or Galactic?

Well, the answer is then quite clear. We are not ready. ;)

I'd agree with that. No need to blame Satan, man can do it by himself.

How can my not believing be a religion, that makes no freaking sense, Atheism isn't a religion it's a lack of belief that there is a god and that religions are pointless. My issue isn't that anyone believes it's that when someone says they don't you get the inevitable but if you did you'd be saved. Saved from what? Or my favourite is that somehow as I don't believe I'm less moral. My morals are simple, don't harm another and don't judge others even if I don't approve. Whats right for them may not be for me. But as long as they're not harming another then go for it. If someone wants to believe in god good for them, but don't try and tell others it's the way.

Are you saying that because you are an atheist, that you don't have any beliefs about life, or that atheists don't have any common beliefs? Beliefs are not limited only to those of organized religions. When I mentioned your beliefs, I wasn't limiting that only to your athieism, but also to your belief in UFO, which is also a form of religion for some people.
My morals are simple, don't harm another and don't judge others even if I don't approve.
This statement is somewhat contradictory, because if you don't approve of someone else, you have already judged them. Harming someone isn't limited to just physical harm. It is normal for everyone to judge others to one extent or another, we do it every time we meet or talk with another. For me, the difference is that when I judge someone, my judgment in the form of condemnation. For you, that is not entirely true, because, as you have demonstrated in this thread, you have labeled anyone with religious beliefs with many denigrating labels.

Disagreement isn't necessarily synonymous with judgement. I disagree with lots of people, in fact I fundamentally disagree with mankind, and its general values and morals and ethics, but I still don't judge them... even if I think they have wrong or stupid values, I agree with their right to hold to what they think is right, I just have to give them the space in order to have the right for my own space. To judge means to take a role of deciding what's right or wrong, a quite decisive step, I will personally leave to God, in the final end. By the Book, Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? - Romans 2:4, AV 1611

Note the word "goodness". It's not a threat "I'll throw you all in hell" -eh?

I think wolves have more sense than men. At least they don't eat each other! [By the way, did you know that wolves have more than 40 tail positions to express their feelings? What a richness!]

Hooray for life, in any known or unknown forms. :fdance:

Don't know if we are ready, but perhaps we should be? Anyone noticed this, http://www.theguardian.com/science/2013/nov/04/planets-galaxy-life-kepler

Perhaps, just perhaps, it's all just very much bigger? Even God Almighty might turn out to be bigger than Churches and Denominations? --- No offense to Him.

Who knows? Preparedness might be of value? A new morning of awareness? No New Age here, just plain use of ones brains.

I guess I have spent too much time on YouTube lately, because I keep running into some of the oddest videos. It's not that I totally discount "alien" stories and theories, but it seems that they are going to new heights in attempting to dig up some kind of "evidence" to support their tales:

Some have thought it loony that some Christians see Jesus in the burled grain of some door or a reflection of some kind, but at least they didn't go to such lengths as this to make a formless smudge into a creature of their own imagination. I guess just about any random pattern could be hiding any image that a person could imagine...given the right tools to shape it. I think I will stick to pondering the clouds.

I pretty much agree with that. There's too much of speculation, and with the introduction of computers and bits and pieces, together with graphical images, anything can be proven or unproven. And no one can really prove the proved, or disprove what was claimed to have been proven. And the public is more dependent of specialists than ever.

Gosh. The fact is, our scientific era may be more superstitious than any earlier, like the era where Earth was considered flat. Everyone believed it since the authorities said it. In fact, the ones saying it, claimed it on basis of the Bible, while the Bible all the time witnessed that the Earth is round, http://christiananswers.net/q-eden/edn-c015.html, to give a basic comment.

Are we truly getting wiser, or are we getting dumber? Are men loosing their natural born wisdom for gadgets, "run on batteries"? If this is the case, we may have to face God / Truth more stupid than we ever were?

Or perhaps, if God / whatever created various and several living forms / civilizations, will mankind with its somewhat hostile nature, meet them with force? I mean, we always go with guns, don't we?

Not necessarily a question of "is there something", but a question of "how to meet them". Surprise, goes back to Mike's original OP. Now, how did that happen? Need to scratch my head...

I would like to continue this thread, of mere honor for Mike's efforts, but also for what appeared in Topic "Introduce Yourself" lately, I thank kemical for his response.

Having been in the Space Age for much longer than in the IT Age, and having been far further in "Spiritual Age", issues introduced cannot be neglected, by mankind. What's it all about?

Has truth been introduced by iPad? I mean, there should be more to human nature, and even technology, than mere "Plug and Play"? Electrical circuits, or chemical compounds, like introduced by psychiatry, are they all we are?

And what would the assumed Aliens be? High voltage, compared with us? Would they be biological, at all?

Brains to work, folks, brains to work! With all due respect.

Yours truly and dearly.
