Last week I bought a new Toshiba Protege R835 laptop, with Windows 7, 64 bit. I installed Firefox and started to set up my preferences, install software, etc. I quickly discovered, however, that when I tried to load Twitter the site would time out each time. I would get the standard "Problem loading page" screen eventually, telling me that the site is busy etc. Although a few times I have been to log in and pull up a few tweets, this happens very rarely (prob 10% of the time) and the website is extremely slow even then.

All other websites appear to be loading normally.

Twitter will not load in Chrome or IE either. I have uninstalled the trial Norton antivirus and tried to disable the startup programs that come standard on these models.

I have not installed much new software, just iTunes, VLC, uTorrent, Quicktime, etc. The problem has been consistent from the start, regardless of what software I have added.

Strangely, the problem only occurs when I am wirelessly accessing the Internet. When I use an ethernet cable, Twitter will load normally. My older laptop accesses Twitter with no problems over the same wireless connection.

The problem has persisted for a week now. Any ideas what the problem might be? If you need any information to diagnose my problem, I would be glad to supply it. Thanks in advance.

Solution
It seems like you are experiencing a specific issue with accessing Twitter on your new Toshiba Protege R835 laptop when connected wirelessly to the internet. Here are some troubleshooting steps and potential solutions to help resolve this issue: 1. Clear Browser Cache: Start by clearing the cache, cookies, and temporary internet files in your web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, and IE). Sometimes, corrupted data in the cache can cause loading issues. 2. Check DNS Settings: Ensure that your laptop is using the correct DNS settings. You can try using Google's public DNS servers (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) to see if it resolves the issue. 3. Disable IPv6: Sometimes, IPv6 can cause issues with specific websites. Try disabling IPv6...

Try disabling IPv6 and see if it helps. Here's how: - Go to Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center -> Change adapter settings. - Right-click on your wireless network adapter, select Properties. - Uncheck the Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) box. 4. Update Network Drivers: Make sure your wireless network adapter drivers are up to date. You can check for driver updates on Toshiba's official website or through Device Manager. 5. Power Cycle Your Router: Turn off your router, wait for a few minutes, and then turn it back on. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues. 6. Check Firewall Settings: Ensure that your firewall settings are not blocking Twitter or any necessary elements of the website. 7. Run Network Troubleshooter: Use the built-in network troubleshooter in Windows to diagnose and potentially fix any network-related issues. 8. Disable Antivirus/Security Software Temporarily: Your security software might be causing the issue. Temporarily disable it and see if Twitter loads properly. 9. Check for Proxy Settings: Make sure that there are no proxy settings configured that might be affecting your access to Twitter. 10. Contact your ISP: If none of the above solutions work, it might be worth contacting your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to check if there are any network-related issues on their end. Try these steps and see if any of them help resolve the issue with accessing Twitter on your Toshiba laptop. If the issue persists, feel free to provide more information for further assistance.
