Windows 7 BSOD after installing ram.

Today I took the 2gb stick out of my HP Pavilion DV2 laptop and replaced it with a 512mb stick of ram. (the pc has only one slot)

I then turned on the pc and I get a BSOD after it says "starting windows" and then it says its dumping something and shuts down.

How do I fix this BSOD? I only have the 512mb ram stick.

Have you compared the 2 RAM sticks before switching? Are they compatible, i.e. frequency and format? Make sure your motherboard supports it (memcheck from BIOS would help).

If all goes fine, then I would suggest to go for a repair as advised above. This is a hardware change and Windows is not that flexible. Even worse, the RAM is a critical piece, I'm not even sure you have enough to boot up.

Hth.
