Hello,
I'm using Windows 7 64Bit version.
Lately i've been experiencing BSOD's and sudden shutdowns. They happen on number of ways:
suddenly in middle of work, when computer is idle for some time, and also when i try to start program Filezilla for example.
I'm thinking it has something to do with the wireless network card, but i tried to disable it and i still had some problems...
When computer is coming back from standby i sometimes it sometime doesn't respond, but this is also intermittent, sometimes it wakes up with no problem...

I tried to run "perfmon /report" but i got BSOD again... :frown:
Lately i have this problem once or twice an hour so it really affects the work on the computer.

Here is two erros i got in the event viewer on two different times it happened:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x000000c4 (0x0000000000000081, 0xfffff9804d7defc0, 0x0000000000000082, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 010211-22339-02.

Solution
Ok there:

1. DISABLE DRIVER VERIFIER - Start Menu -> Search Box -> type this -> verifier.exe /reset -> Press "Enter" -> Reboot

2. The crash was caused by MagicISO SCSI Host Controller:

Code:
[B]DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION (c4)
A device driver attempting to corrupt the system has been caught.
Probably caused by : mcdbus.sys[/B]

-> Update or uninstall MagicISO:

Code:
mcdbus.sys Tue Feb 24 05:34:07 2009

-> Update Ralink Wireless:

Code:
netr28x.sys Fri Sep 11 01:25:00 2009

I did ask you to update Ralink and I don't understand why you didn't. Please do so.

Hello, welcome to windows7forums, and have great holidays. : )

Stop 0x000000C4 is the general bug check code for fatal errors found by Driver Verifier. To be able to tell your more, please submit your crash dumps for analysis. To do that, proceed as follows:

1. Disable the driver verifier to stop crashing non-stop. Run Driver Verifier Manager (Start >> Verifier) and select Delete Existing Settings in the initial dialog box.

2. Attach your crash dumps from C:\Windows\Minidump

3. Link Removed

DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION (c4)
A device driver attempting to corrupt the system has been caught. This is
because the driver was specified in the registry as being suspect (by the
administrator) and the kernel has enabled substantial checking of this driver.
If the driver attempts to corrupt the system, bugchecks 0xC4, 0xC1 and 0xA will
be among the most commonly seen crashes.

About the "update drivers"
Windows says that they are updated, and also no update is available in windows update for them.
Should i update them manually from the company website ? (ASUs and Edimax)

Ok done everything you noted there.

is there anything else i need to do now? or should i just go ahead and start testing the system?

Yes, please use your PC as you would usually do, test and enjoy. Should the blue screens reoccur, attach the newest crash dumps. : )

Nice one Cybercore. Seems like everything is back to normal.
I would love it if you can explain what we did here so i will know how to fix these problems next time.

Did the verifier it self caused the crash as part of debugging proccess?
How did you know which drivers are bad?
Why did you ask me to install microsoft anti-virus? and remove SPDT?

Thanks a lot נשמה טובה

Those drivers are old for Windows 7, and DT and Avast are quite notorious.

Update MagicISO too:

mcdbus.sys Tue Feb 24 05:34:07 2009

Happened again. This time it was when i woke the computer from standby.
I think it still has something to do with the network cards, as i saw the network icon had red X in the tray. after a second the computer just freezes, only way to turn it off is to press the power button for 4 seconds....

I wanted to attach minidump file but there is none available in the minidump folder. so i run verifier and choose "create standard settings" and then "automatically select all drivers on this computer". is this right?

it will probably happen again later today...

The drivers are all good and the latest possible, some are dated January 3 2011. Well done.

Have you disabled the driver verifier?

I disabled it when you told me to, so the computer won't crash repeatedly.
But i tried to turn it on again so i can send minidump file.

BTW, I noticed only now that you told me to update Magic-disc drivers. I tried to open the program, and the computer shut down suddenly. I removed the program completely as i don't need it anymore.
Could it be the reason for the last shut downs?

Make sure the verifier's off.

It could have been the cause if you hadn't updated it, it was a 2009 driver.

So how are you doing at the moment, are you having any crashes?

Until now, everything works like a charm. Thanks so much.

Where is the Like button here?

Lol, the "Like" button appears when you hover the mouse over to the bottom right of a post.
However, BSOD's can be considered fixed if you haven't had one over a month or two.
Let's hope so.

Oh Well :(
System hung again today. It happened after it was on stand-by for two days. I came back and powered it on, then it shows the desktop but everything is frozen...
I didn't get BSOD though, so i don't have dump file to attach, only thing is message in the even viewer:
The previous system shutdown at 1:37:50 PM on ‎1/‎9/‎2011 was unexpected.
and
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
I did note that the network icon on the tray looking like it's disabled. But it might be due to the system not fully loaded - it takes some time until it connects to the wireless internet...
the icon i saw no network.webp
