Windows 7 BSOD codes 0x124 and 0x101 help

Wooshna

New Member
Hi,

I've been having BSOD codes 0x124 and 0x101 for the last couple of weeks. I've done everything from updating drivers, reseating all hardware, checking temps cleaning out all hardware, testing my HDD for errors (none), ran memtest (7 pass no errors), My CPU core temp is 20C and load temps are 36C, my video card idle temp 33C and load temp is around 45C. I did a fresh install of windows 7 onto my HDD and now my ssd is used for storage. On a side note cha fan 2 and 3 pins dont work so maybe there is an error with my motherboard? If i can get some help with this it would be great because im honestly at the point where i am going to RMA my cpu and motherboard to see if that would fix the issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What hard drive test did you run? Here's the tests that I suggest for a hard drive: Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure

Remove the SSD from the mix (since it's only storage) by unplugging both data and power cables from it (temporarily) - that'll tell you if it's the SSD or not.
SSD's were temperamental when they first came out, but their reliability has improved greatly over the last year or two. There are 2 things that MUST be checked on systems with BSOD's and SSD's:
1) That the SSD firmware is the latest available for the SSD
2) That the storage controller drivers on the motherboard are the most recent. They must date from late 2012 or later. This is ALL controllers, not just the one that the SSD is attached to.

Only 5 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 160 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Other than this, this seems to be a hardware problem to me. Please run these free diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics The error is a bus error (not a cache error) - in those I suspect the mobo rather than the CPU. If you have the ability to RMA it may save you some time to replace the mobo (and CPU if able) using the RMA (rather than running through all of the hardware diagnostics)

Just FYI stuff:

Thank you Usasma,

I ran WinDFT from windows scanned both my harddrives and they showed no errors. My system automatically updated windows so i'm good on that front as well. Good news is since i have taken my OS off my SSD, did the fresh install and updated all drivers my bsod's seems to have gone away. I will disconnect my SSD before stressing my system. I have yet to stress test my system but i know i do not have a heating problem since i have an antec 1100 case with 5 120mm intake fans, a H80 push/pull for cpu exhuast and a 140mm exhaust for the top. But i will run an Intel burn test, prime 95, Furmark, and rescan my drives with WinDFT to see if the problem is truly gone if not i will just RMA my motherboard and CPU. I will repost if i have another BSOD.

The Hitachi DFT is a good test, so the hard drives are probably good.

Rerun the reports and check the systeminfo.txt report to see how many updates are installed. I haven't seen a system with less than 66 updates in a long, long time.

My suggestion to RMA the mobo/CPU is simply to save you time when testing - it's not an opinion that the mobo/CPU is bad.
Since you haven't had any problems since switching from the SSD - I'd have to suspect that the SSD is the issue here.

Good luck!
