BSOD & Crashes while playing games
Hi
I've been having random BSOD and crashes on my computer since I upgrade my computer from XP(32bit) to Windows7 (64bit). It happens every time I run programs that uses the graphics card at a significant amount (which is playing games =P). However, I didn't have any problems running those programs(games) before the upgrade. Aside from that, windows7 runs just smooth and stable.
Here is my computer specs:
- OS: Windows 7 x64
- Built in Feb 2010
- CPU: AMD AthlonII X4 620 2.6GHz Socket AM3 2MB L2 Cache
- Memory: OCZ3G1664GK OCZ DDR3 4GB(2X2048MB) D/C Kit PN
- Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 4650
- MotherBoard: ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO SKT.AM# AMD 785G/SB710 2XPCI-EX16 4D.DDR3-1600, 1XPCI-E 1X, GBLAN.SATA RAIN, DX10.1 ATX
- PowerSupply: ORZ600SXS2
- The most recent installation is done on last week.
I switched from XP 32bit to Wins7 x64 on Sept 2010.
And then I have re-installed Windows 7 for 3/4 times.
After reading on different tech forums, I believe that the problem is caused by my graphic driver base on the error information(atikmpag) when having BSOD. Therefore, I've done the following set up in Catalyst Control Center Cusing:
I go to Options/Profiles/Profiles Manager. Create a new profile. Under composition and checked "ATI Overdrive". Save and Close, but did not activate it at that moment.
Then I go to: C:\Users\{yourusername}\AppData\Local\ATI\ACE\Profiles
Open the xml document with the name of the profile I just created and change the values of the Clock and Memory speeds to look like this:
Feature name="CoreClockTarget_0"
Property name="Want_0" value="50000"
Property name="Want_1" value="60000"
Property name="Want_2" value="85000"
Feature
Feature name="MemoryClockTarget_0"
Property name="Want_0" value="90000"
Property name="Want_1" value="90000"
Property name="Want_2" value="120000"
Save and close. Finally, go back to CCC and activate this profile.
After doing that, I still have the same graphics problem. I really don't know what else can I do. All my drivers should be up to date. My best guess is that there might be some conflicts between the graphic drives and the hardwares of my computer.
A bunch of my minidumps is attached. Thanks so much for any help you could offer!! I really appreciate it.

Solution
Defective video card.
You can use Driver Sweeper to clear the ATI drivers/settings, in safe mode. Then boot to normal and install the driver:
Link Removed
But it's unlikely to help. If not, replace the card.
Also update bios to latest before doing so.
-------
Update Realtek lan driver:
Rt64win7 Rt64win7.sys Wed Jun 23 05:10:45 2010
Link Removed
--------
Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers
Rename this driver to RtNdPt60.BAK -
RtNdPt60 RtNdPt60.sys Mon Dec 10 21:49:52 2007
Reboot.

Hi there, welcome.
Update the motherboard bios to newest.
Very likely that the video card is defective. Replace it with another you have or use the motherboard onboard video (with video card removed) for temporary testing purposes, to see if stops are alleviated.

Oh hey, I just actually read your post. You don't want to ever change anything like that.
Use Driver Sweeper in safe mode to clear all ATI settings/software/drivers.
Reboot to normal mode then install the latest driver:

Leave all settings alone. If bsods persist, follow my previous post.
The 0x124 stops are hardware unfortunately, though.

First of all, thanks for your quick respond. appreciate it.
Could I ask a silly question? you mentioned Driver Sweeper. Where could I find?

You're welcome. Let me know how you get on with everything above.
There's a thing or two we might have attention to otherwise, but your results are of the most importance for now. (Fresh install driver and/or testing with card out.)

I used Driver Sweeper in safe mode to clear all ATI settings/software/drivers then reinstall my video driver. so far it didn't crash on me. so I hope the problem is solved. again thanks a lot. I will use my computer for another 1 or 2 days and update to you if the problem happens again. Thanks again for your help =]

Seems like the problem still exists. Then I plugged out the video card(I forgot to uninstall drivers before I plugged it out) tried using the on board video to run the game. Unfortunately, the bsod appear on both setting. As I said before I forget to uninstall the driver on my computer before I switch to the on board one. Should I uninstall it now and retry it ?

Uninstall both video drivers that I understand you currently have installed, boot to safe mode and clean the drivers' remnants with Link Removed. Then boot normally and install the onboard video driver, get the latest available from the manufacturer's site.
If crashes still occur with the onboard video on, do as follows:
1) attach your latest .dmp's
2) run memtest overnight RAM - Test with Memtest86+ - Windows 7 Forums preferably 10 passes

You can post it now. It can only help while you test as well.

I rearrange the rams and put them on my 1st and 3rd slots instead of 1st+2nd or 3rd+4th. Guess what? I ran the test for 10 hrs. 9 passes and no error so far.

I stop the test after i get 11 passes and the most recent dmp files are attached. Would you mind take a look of them? Thanks.
