Hi,

I've read several different online tutorials for installing Windows on my Mac. I wanted to confirm two things before I do it.

1) I need to purchase Windows 8, not 8.1.

2) After I download I need to burn it as an ISO file on a disk and then run Boot Camp.

If anyone has done either, can you send me some assurance that this is the way to go?

Thank you,

I would follow these instructions from Apple: Link Removed.

You probably know that using Boot Camp means that you can boot either into OS X or into Windows. If you want to be able to use OS X and Windows side by side you need an (OS X) program like Parallels and then install Windows within Parallels.
Win 8 or 8.1 also depends on the version of Boot Camp. Your friends at Mac Foruns should be able to help you more on this. I've done the reverse, Windows PC running Mavericks OSX.
