Windows 10 Can I Transfer The Start Screen When Upgrading to Windows 10?

I have been hesitant to upgrade my wife's laptop from 8.1 to 10 because she exclusively uses the start screen (Aero, Metro, whatever its called). I did an upgrade for her a few months ago, but it wiped out all of the tiles that she had saved, so I had to revert back to 8.1. Is there a way to copy or backup the 8.1 start screen and restore it in the Windows 10 upgrade? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi

Try this....

Windows 10 Tip: Swap Between Start Menu and Start Screen

I'm not sure that it will duplicate the start screen the same as it looks in Windows 8.1 but if you make a screen shot of the 8.1 start screen for reference you should be able to manually duplicate it, so it looks basically the same.

As for files stored on the desktop try going to the Users Desktop folder and make a copy of it.
You should be able to restore the files by copying them back to the new Desktop folder after the upgrade.

C:\Users\User Name\Desktop.
