Windows Vista can not shut down vista

I have a laptop with vista home OS.
This morning after I updated one of my software, I can not restart the laptop. Any suggestions?

This is a windows defender problem.
Just unplug the power and the battery.
Wait for a few minutes and plug the battery and the power
before press the power button.

Do not leave it on if its been trying to SHUT DOWN for 2 DAYS. You are going to destroy your HARD DRIVE. Unplug the computer and disconnect the battery and restart the computer!!!!!
