Windows 8 can you format just a folder?

just manually deleting everything in it didn't help.
it has a lot of crap files that aren't going away.

ideas?
 
What's in the folder?... delete a system folder = windows error of some sort... you have to be sure about what you are getting rid of m8.

To answer the main question; NO... you format a hard drive or a partition on the drive but you can't format just a folder... obviously formatting the drive will also remove the folders on it but thats like using a hammer to open an egg.
 
Following up ussnorway's remarks. If it is a private folder, created by yourself, or by a third party program, then just delete the folder and, if desired, recreate it. Don't delete any OS (System) folders which have been created by default in the Os.
If it is the first, and you have some stubborn entries, you could try taking ownership and deleting.
