I installed Windows 7 Professional 32 bit using the upgrade option. Since installation, I cannot access the internet with IE 8 nor can I access the iTunes store (making using my iPhone very difficult). I can access the internet with Firefox and also with Outlook. I have tried turning off my antivirus, I have also tried reconfiguring the Firewall and even tried turning it off. Nothing worked for either of these programs. I am extremely frustrated because certainly IE8 should be able to access the internet, especially as they are both Microsoft programs and should be compatible. ITunes 9 is also listed as being compatible.

Any ideas.

Hello Everyone,
My problem is resolved. I could not effectively upgrade to Windows 7 and use iTunes so,

I backed up my data.
Did a clean install.
Downloaded itunes, tested it and it worked as did IE 8 which I was having problems with.
Loaded my old data back onto the computer using windows easy transfer.
iTunes and IE 8 STOPPED working.
I went into Internet Options, Advanced and Reset my IE 8 Options.
Everything then worked.
Not sure of the logic but it works.
Thanks for the help.

For IE8, go to "Tools," select "Internet Options," choose the "connections" tab, and select "LAN Settings," and ensure that "Automatically Detect Settings" is checked. You can exit out of that and refresh your connection -- do you have internet?

If not, check another setting: Go to "File" and ensure that "Work offline" is not checked. As for iTunes, please uninstall the application and then reinstall it.

Also should you require additional assistance with this process Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here Link Removed . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads there for additional support.

Sorry, don't know your name. I would like to have more explicit info & then will try to say something (hopefully) helpful.

Of course, I don't always recommend clean installs over upgrades but, that's pretty much water over the dam now.

When you say, "can't access internet via IE" Do you mean you have IE but, won't load websites OR that you can't find IE in the machine @ all? Makes a big difference as to what directions I go in replying.

As for iTunes, remove it, if it's in the P&F list... either way..re-install iTunes.

Thanks

Drew
Thank you Drew, btw, I am Mark.
I am able to connect to the Internet with Mozilla Firefox. When I try to connect via IE8 I cannot load web pages, have tried unchecking work offline, turning off firewall etc. I did remove iTunes and then reinstalled it, still could not access the iTunes store. I get a message saying that a secure connection could not be established and that the connection has timed out. I get that message really fast, like a fast busy on the phone.
