I would like to send an email from within Windows 7 Task Scheduler. I'm using Yahoo Mail Plus. It doesn't work. I suspect that I must setup a SMTP server first, but not sure how to do that. Is there a tutorial somewhere? Thanks
Pete

Solution
To send emails from Windows 7 Task Scheduler using Yahoo Mail Plus, you need to configure an SMTP server. Yahoo Mail Plus (now known as Yahoo Mail Pro) allows you to use SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) with third-party email clients or services. Here's a general outline of the steps you need to follow to set up an SMTP server for Yahoo Mail Plus: 1. Yahoo SMTP Server Settings: - SMTP Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com - SMTP Port: 465 (SSL) or 587 (TLS/STARTTLS) - Authentication: Yes, use your Yahoo email address and password 2. Enable Less Secure Apps: - Yahoo Mail may require you to enable "Less Secure Apps" to allow the connection from external services like Task Scheduler. You can enable this feature in your Yahoo account settings under "Account Security." 3. Task Scheduler Configuration: - In Task Scheduler, create a new task and choose the action to "Start a program." - Set the program/script as a command-line email sending tool that supports SMTP. You may need to use a third-party command-line mailer like "Blat" or "SendEmail." 4. Configure SMTP in Task Scheduler: - When setting up the task, include the SMTP server, port, username, password, and other required information as parameters for the command-line email sending tool you chose. As for tutorials, you can find guides online for setting up SMTP for specific email services like Yahoo Mail Plus. However, since Windows 7 is an older operating system, tutorials may be a bit limited. If you need assistance with a specific part of the process or encounter any issues during setup, feel free to ask for help.
