The ipod works fine on other machines so I know it's not faulty.

Solution
It seems like you're facing a compatibility issue between your iPod and BitLocker on your laptop. Here are a few suggestions that might help you work around this problem:

  • Check BitLocker Settings: Verify your BitLocker settings to see if there are any specific configurations causing the issue. You might need to adjust BitLocker settings to allow the iPod to function correctly.
  • Temporarily Disable BitLocker: If possible, you can temporarily disable BitLocker on your laptop while you manage your iPod. Remember to re-enable it afterward for security.
  • Update iTunes and Drivers: Ensure that both iTunes and your laptop's drivers are up-to-date. Updated software can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
  • Alternative File Transfer Methods: Consider using alternative methods to transfer music to your iPod, such as manually copying files to the iPod through File Explorer if BitLocker encryption is causing problems with iTunes.
  • Contact Support: If none of the above solutions work, consider reaching out to Apple or Microsoft support for further assistance on this specific compatibility issue.
