Windows Vista Computer freezes after updates are installed

I have an Asus T3 Series M2NC51PV. It was working with Vista and Ubuntu Linux, I was trying
to modify the partitions and damaged the Windows installation, so I re-formated the
disk (100% Windows) and tried to reinstall Windows Vista (32 Bits) and everything
seems to be OK until I do the Windows Updates, once I restart the computer it takes a
long time "configuring the updates" and then, when it comes to the "shutdown" it
freezes, after 2 or 3 hours turn it off whit the switch and it never boots again.

The components are :

Athlon Processor 64X2 4200
HDD Maxtor Sata II/300 320 GB
LITEON DVD Reader/Writer
Logitech Web-Cam (Disconnected for the new installation)
Cannon Lide Scanner (Disconnected for the new installation)

I tried to start Windows in safe mode and hangs after showing the file
\windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys

Thank you in advance for your help,

JP

Change your boot order to boot from disk and then try running the 'repair' option found on the vista disk.

Than you for the info and your interest. I will try some of the solutions there as soon as I have time. I will keep you posted.

I did the research and tried all the recommendations, nothing worked. Finally I reinstalled, did the important security updates but the drivers form NVIDIA and it seems to be working so far.

Thank you for your interest,
