Late here, you probably have solved the issue.
Windows installation can be tricky. For some rather unknown reasons, it simply won't recognize a disk, or gives a false alarm - it may be as whimsy as my wife...
... or me, for that matter.
I needed, with a fully functional new computer, custom, more than ten efforts to finally install Windows 7. Each step via format etc.
Use a third party partition program, my favorite is GParted,
http://gparted.org/ and get rid of all partitions. Then make new partitions as you like. It's quite possible Windows installation asks you if you want to create partitions "as there are none", then go with Windows.
