I have two monitors - I use one primarily.

My normal setup in Display Settings is "Show Desktop only on 1" - this works fine.

If I switch to "Extend These Displays" my primary monitor desktop moves over to the second monitor and my main monitor shows the desktop background image with no icons (display 2).

How do I get the opposite to happen? When I switch from "Show Desktop Only on 1" to "Extend These Displays" I want my normal desktop to stay on monitor one and just the background to be extended onto monitor two.

Any thoughts?

Setup - Monitor 1 is a Dell U3011 via DVI - Monitor 2 is a projector via USB.

Background - this function worked normally until I changed primary monitors.

To adjust the configuration of your extended displays in Windows when switching from "Show Desktop Only on 1" to "Extend These Displays," you can customize the display settings to meet your specific requirements. Here's how you can do this: 1. Access Display Settings: - Right-click on an empty area of your desktop and select "Display settings." - Alternatively, you can also press the Windows key + P to open the Project menu and select "Extend." 2. Set Your Primary Display: - In the Display Settings window, identify the display that you want to be your primary monitor where the taskbar and desktop icons should appear. - Drag and drop the visual representation of the monitors (labeled as 1 and 2) to rearrange them according to...

Adjust Individual Display Settings: - Once your primary display is set, scroll down to the "Multiple displays" section in Display Settings. - Select the display you want to customize (monitor 1 or monitor 2). - Adjust settings such as resolution, orientation, and scale for each display based on your requirements. 4. Apply Changes: - Click on "Apply" to save the settings. - Windows will prompt you to keep or revert the changes within 15 seconds. Make sure to confirm the changes if they are correct. By following these steps, you should be able to set up your displays as desired, with your primary monitor showing the main desktop and the extended background appearing on the secondary monitor.
