My boss does a lot of DJ work so he has a lot of music. He uses AudioComparer to find duplicates of his music and deletes them.

He upgraded his HP Compaq DC7800p running XP Pro 32bit from a Core 2 Duo E8600 to a Core 2 Quad Q6600.

He ran the AudioComparer program and it only uses one of the four cores. We tried putting in another hard drive with Windows 7 on it and it worked fine, but my boss doesn't want to drop XP. He tried an i5 machine with an i5, and it worked fine on XP.

Is there any issues that XP has with the Core 2 Quad? or would it be a motherboard issue?

Please let me know if I missed any information.

Every thing I found so far says that the performance between the 2 are almost the same, except for the fact one is a 2 core and the other is a 4 core cpu.

With the new CPU installed, a clean install of windows should have been done and all the latest drivers installed along with any new BIOS updates.
