Windows 7 Creative Sound Blaster Live! CT4830 Driver for Windows 7

I's obsolete . We couldn'tt evenn find a Vista Driver for it.

What;i on the CD tat came with it?

Good day, I just installed the driver and it wont continue the install because it does not detect the sound card. I removed it and placed it back after bringing it to the store. I don't think I missed placed the wire, one end in the back of the cd-rom, the other in the cd in slot. I am at a loss, Dell said Windows 7 is not capatible with my 2000$ computer. Is there anything I can try, please help! Thank you.

Hi Tim,
if you have onboard sound make sure it's turned off in the bios. Also please list your system specification.

It worked for me with windows7, now i have sound from my Creative Labs SB Live! I clicked the link from #4 and then i clicked [click here to download]

kX Project -- Downloads page - this is a 3rd party driver. I installed it, rebooted as instructed, opened the KX Mixer, adjusted the rear/front speaker setup, (the installation instructions mention the front/back speaker settings are swapped by default in this software), anyways, I adjusted the front/rear speaker setting, and now can hear audio through my Creative Sound Blaster Live! ct4830 on Windows 7 32-bit! Thanks to those guys! I was about to drop $30 bucks on a barebones PCI soundcard just to hear audio again! ( all the other audio ports on my pc have been mangled by headphones getting ripped around in them, or even broken off inside them.

yes, this is the only thing that i helped me. i got this answer from another forum, but for those who are still looking for an answer, those are the steps that helped me:

1. enter to the downloading page:
http://download.kxproject.lugosoft.com/?file=
2. download the driver.
for me, the first driver (kX Driver 5.10.0.3550 (09/18/2009) ) did Not work. it install it but after reboot it says that i do not have any Sound Blaster card....
so i download the second option and an older version (kX Driver 5.10.0.3549 (08/18/2009) ) which did Not displayed an error message after reboot.
3. for some maybe its enough, but i had to do a few more steps. so if there is no sound, you should check if the sound icon on the right side of the taskbar has no red X on it. you should uninstall and reinstall the audio drivers (also the onboard) because maybe the onboard driver is colliding with the soundblaster driver.
4. after there is no red X on the sound icon on the taskbar, press on it a right click and choose: "Open Volume Mixer"
5. Under "Device" there is a picture of Spearker or HeadPhone or something and under it, there is small Arrow that let you change and select another option.
press on that arrow and each time select a different option. after each time you change the option, press on the volume bar and turn your speaker loud enough so you could hear if you found the right option (you can also open youtube or something that will make a sound)
also check that you plug the Speaker 3.5 mm jack cable to the right place.
if you still didn't hear the windows sound (or the youtube's sound or something), you should try a different place to plug the cable in the soundblaster card. for example, i've got 2 options for audio out on my soundblaster card.
6. after you found it, remember it's name! (example: for me it was something like "Wave Output 4/5" that makes sound). and close the volume mixer
7. press right click on the volume icon on the task bar and this time, select "Sounds" and go to "Playback" tab.
8. on that list, select the working sound you found in section 5 (in my case, it was the "Wave Output 4/5"), press right click on it and select it as default. after that press "apply" and "ok" to close this window.

and that's it, you should test it on youtube or something and after that, restart your computer just to make sure its working.

btw, if it still doesn't work, you should try again with a diffrent driver (section 2) and/or with diffrent sound option (section 5).
good luck!

I have recently updated my Operating System to Windows 7 Home. My sound card is a Terratec DMX 6fire 24/96 and I don't think theirs a W7 Driver for this hardware. Is there any way I can get this sound card working with W7? Cheers

Never heard of this Sound card manufacturer. Have you checked their website; are they still in business? It sounds like you have a desktop here. If it had Vista or XP on it before your upgrade, they may not have a driver available, especially if they went out of business. If I haven't heard of them being that I've been doing this for 30+ years, they are not very well known.

If you have no luck contacting them or they went OOB (Out-Of-Business), I suggest you cough up about $35 for a Creative Labs PCI internal sound card==any of the SoundBlaster series are acceptable. They are the industry standard and will work for all versions of Windows. Try to make sure if you buy on eBay or somewhere similar that the Card was manufacturerd after 2009 for best results with drivers that were properly written and tested for Window7.

Yes they are a small company, I think they're still in business but my particuler sound card have been discontinued :( I might consider going back to XP?! as this soundcard wasn't cheap and had specialist inputs for music recording etc. How many more years do you recon XP's got before it becomes obsolete?

This is the companies link - http://www.terratec.net/en/

Thanks for posting back Elliott! Wow, a new company I never heard of making audio cards--amazing! Live and learn. o_O

On the XP--we are hearing Feb. or Apr. 2014 for the End-of-XP support date. Of course that has been pushed back before and probably will be again, as XP has the largest number of worldwide users of any Windows version in Microsoft's illustrious history. BTW, that means no more paid tech support on phone, no more XP media replacements, but not download of legacy drivers, service packs, tech articles in MSDnet, and developer kits. Our Windows Forum leader has some posts here about that if you're interested you can read the sticky he has in Windows XP forum I think. He works very closely with the Microsoft people. You have a few more months then to get things you need or upgrade to newer Windows versions etc.

Best of Luck!
