Aloha,

My cursor has been acting up. Some of the symptoms are:
1. Cursor will run from left to right (while in a text box)
2. When pointing the arrow (cursor) on a radio button, all radio buttons will flicker
3. Hitting the send or cancel button will not always work (flickering again)
4. Mousing over any item in the start menu---I encounter the flicker and then other items within the start menu will highlight and flicker (all while I'm still moused over the first item)

Any idea on what is going on?

Also, a Restart will help for a while then it progressively gets worse.

I just performed a "clean" install of Vista and this problem was happing on my previous OS Win XP MCE.

Thanks,

It seems like you're experiencing some troublesome cursor behavior on your Windows Vista system, which was also occurring on your previous Windows XP MCE installation. Here are a few possible reasons and solutions to address the cursor issues you've described: 1. Driver Issues: - Update Mouse Drivers: Outdated or incompatible mouse drivers could lead to erratic cursor behavior. Try updating your mouse drivers by visiting the manufacturer's website or using Device Manager in Windows. - Reinstall Mouse Drivers: Uninstall your mouse drivers and reinstall them to ensure a clean configuration. 2. Software Conflict: - Third-Party Software: Some third-party software can interfere with mouse functionality. Check if...

Software Conflict: - Third-Party Software: Some third-party software can interfere with mouse functionality. Check if you have any programs that might be causing this issue. - Clean Boot: Perform a clean boot to start Windows with minimal startup programs. This can help identify if a third-party application is causing the problem. 3. Malware or Virus: - Scan for Malware: Malware or viruses could be causing system instability. Run a thorough antivirus scan to eliminate any potential threats. 4. Hardware Issues: - Faulty Mouse: Try using a different mouse to see if the issue persists. A faulty mouse can cause erratic behavior. - USB Port Issues: Test the mouse on different USB ports to rule out port-related problems. 5. System Settings: - Mouse Settings: Check your mouse settings in the Control Panel. Ensure that the settings are configured correctly for your usage. - Accessibility Options: Disable any unnecessary accessibility settings that might be affecting the cursor behavior. 6. Graphics Card Driver: - Update Graphics Card Driver: Sometimes, outdated graphics card drivers can lead to display issues that can affect cursor performance. Given that the issue persisted after a clean install, there might be a deeper underlying cause. It's crucial to troubleshoot step by step to identify the exact reason for the behavior you're encountering. If the issue continues to worsen after these steps, seeking professional technical assistance or contacting Microsoft Support may be necessary. Feel free to try out these suggestions and let me know if you need further assistance!
