hello,

Would some one please tell me if when running virtual Xp on W7 if:

XP is using its own drivers or W7 drivers
XP is limited to using 3 GB or less memory of the available memory
XP can run on a 64bit version of W7.
XP is partitioned separately from W7
XP has a speed loss running in virtual.

thanks

XP is using its own drivers or W7 drivers = No, Win 7, it is a VPC

XP is limited to using 3 GB or less memory of the available memory = It's a VPC, it uses whatever memory you allocate to it. But, yes, I think (not sure) it would still be limited to the 3G.

XP can run on a 64bit version of W7 = It should. But, if you are getting Win 7 Pro or Ultimate, then you can install Virtual XP Mode for free, which is a more powerful installation of a VPC XP than you might be concidering to install.
And that comes in 32bit and 64bit.

XP is partitioned separately from W7 = No, it's a VHD

XP has a speed loss running in virtual = Depends on the speed of your system, the ammount of RAM you allocate to it.

Also,,,,, The new Windows Virtual PC requires hardware Virtualization (Intel - VT or AMD - V ) to run.

thanks,

I have pre ordered the W7 professional which contains virtual xp as I understand and will give it a whirl.
