Windows 8 Error file after rescuing data

Hi, i am using windows 8 on my vaio sony laptop, when i rescued data from my laptop hard's disk to external disk. After rescuing is finished, some files are error. Please advise.

Was the hardware damaged or did you accidently formatted your hard disk? You could try Recuva to fix these issues but in most cases the recovered files can be gone forever.

Which file types are they and what is the precise situations?
