Windows 7 Errorneous "file too large" message

I'm trying to copy an outlook.pst file to a flash drive. The file is 6.41 GB and the free space on the drive is 58.5 GB. Why do I get a "file too large to copy" message and how can I fix it?

Just a guess at this point without more details, but....
Is it possible that your flash drive is formatted as a Fat32 volume? (4 gig file size limit).
You may have to reformat to NTFS or just
CONVERT X: /FS:NTFS (where X: is the drive letter of your flash drive).

The first will erase the drive completely of course.
The second is generally non-destructive but I would still back up any critical data on it before I tried it.

Thanks; your guess is correct! That is exactly what the problem is, and I appreciate your excellent explanation off the way to fix it. I'm embarrassed I didn't think of that...

You're welcome and thank you for posting back and updating your thread with that information.
Welcome to the forum and we hope to continue to see you around.
Regards
Randy
